Anyone who knows anything about Ethiopian adoption knows that getting assigned a court date is a momentous occasion! We found out this morning that on November 12 the Ethiopian courts will hear our case. Our agency's lawyer will represent us in court, and on that day the courts will decide whether or not Little W and Littler A will become our children. Sometimes for a variety of reasons an additional court date (and sometimes two) is required. We are praying that we pass the FIRST time!
The only hurdle left after passing court is the dreaded TB test. It is done by the US Embassy in Addis Ababa after a child's case passes court. The results are available about two weeks later. If a child passes, then the family is able to travel soon after to bring the child home. If a child fails, it requires a minimum of 8 weeks treatment before being retested. Very few kids test positive, but it is possible. We are praying hard for negative results for both W and A!
So, if we pass court on November 12 AND the kids test negative for TB, we will most likely have an Embassy date in Addis on December 16 or December 30 and then they'll be home with us forever!
All we want for Christmas is to be a family of six!
